Plot Thickens

It occurred to me in just this moment as I am reviewing posts on IG and on WhatsApp that there is mass confusion in the air. It is deliberate and strategic. If you’ve ever read The Art of War, you would understand that politics and politicians are one and the same. It really doesn’t matter their color or association. They are ALL driven by the same lust – Money and ultimately power.

You ask yourself well why did they promise this or that? Well beloved that’s what politicians do. They are fishers of men, they know how to bait and tackle . It’s their innate sensor which has been highly tuned for survival of the fittest.

People choose political parties and hang all their hopes that they will do right by their vote. I have news for you today. They don’t care!!! It’s a corrupt and vile system which is oiled and tuned by one sound and one sound alone ….the sound of money and that illusive power.

You wonder what it will take for them to get it right? Well like a serial killer it’s the temporary fix, but they will kill over and over again until they are caught. The only way for the madness to stop, for the unnecessary death of our votes is for us to choose our own dollars in our communities.

The world of commerce is very global and not turning back. Your choices of where you spend your dollars and with whom is still relevant. Do your research and ensure the vendors you support, support you in some way. It must have an impact, even if it is a trickle initially.

Stop spending your votes on candidates who do not give a rats#%£ about you, your community or your next generation. Just look around you, if the state of affairs does not speak volumes to you, I don’t know what it will take to wake you up.

Stay in touch – small gestures

Make sure you reach out to all the people in your life and see how they are doing.

You don’t have to do a person to person. A phone call will suffice and shows you care, especially in these days of mass hysteria.

Senior relations may need rations so enquire without making them feel like they are a bother.

The infirmed May be locked in and unable to receive optimal care so check in.

I woke up

This morning I woke up and said thanks.

I have a headache but I am determined to move past the obvious and live my day, not just have a day.

Even though my intentions are to live my best day it didn’t mean it is the intention of others.

Shortly after declaring my intentions negativity seeped in. I was prepared.

This noise called negativity can come in any form, so be focused and prepared not to let anyone steal your intentions.

Just know noise can be positive too. It does not always have to be negative. Use negative noise and turn it into positive.

This is for you and me. Heal yourself I needed this.

I was recently reminded by a new server at a bodega I frequent, of the tipping jar… no he did not just tell me I have to tip him?

Initially I was looking at him crossed eyed but then I realized he was new and wasn’t familiar with me as a regular patron so I bit my lips.

But to me tipping is very important because this is how many service people make up the difference in their pay scale, plus I think it is nice to receive money like this to do with as you please day to day:

1. Save for a rainy day

2. Holiday club

3. Rent

4. Car payment

5. Pay off loans

6. Buy yourself something special

7. Emergency funds

8. Children’s allowance

Usually what I do is but an amount in the tip jar once every month based on my expenses on my card. So basically I go back on my card and add up how much I’ve spent then do a percentage for tips each month. There have been months where I’ve gone less and others where I’ve done more.

It’s worth it to me to see someone smile in gratitude and also I’ve been blessed exceedingly and will continue to be blessed in so many ways because I give. Simple formula.

Also, it cost zero dollars just to be kind.

Every once in awhile someone releases, recites, publishes something worthy of mentioning, posting and exploring further.

As a people we don’t have to hate anyone, and we do not generally. However, we have to look at our history, aberrant treatments handed down to us in hopes of keeping us lower than animals. We have to clear our path to a new ownership of self, understanding clearly we are not chattel to be bought and sold on the auction block, felt up, defiled then told we are worthless.

As we move forward we must raise our individual and collective standards remembering everything done by one is labeled to each and everyone of us in the eyes of the person or persons wishing to keep their foot on our necks.

I know, it’s an impossible mission, but as an individual you can do your best to make a difference and to change our community for a better one.

Remember to buy black. It’s the only way out of this servitude.

All I could do through it all was smile, and I still continue to smile Guess why? It’s all a script to me. I’ve seen these rolls and roles before and I can write the book with my eyes closed.

I’ve learned not to react and never to respond to plays before you play it out yourself. Then there are the masterminds, the ones who believe they know everything and can manipulate everyone. These are the ones who fascinate me the most. Their egos are so great that all they see are themselves and no one else. I’ve seen them do things which will shake you to your core because people don’t treat other people like they are nothing unless you have no ability to feel yourself in which case you are a sociopath.

I see it. I understand it and I will allow it to play out the scenes because a good script deserves to be published,

Just know this, not everyone has the capacity to secure your best interest. Only you have your own best interest at heart, and very possibly a small handful of heart folks.

Experience is a great teacher, in my opinion. I’ve seen how knowledge and information either positive or negative gives people a sense of power.

What they do with that power is oftentimes the interesting thing. Gossip, inform or just learn?

I present unfortunately, too many would gossip and oftentimes wrongly inform. The elect few are mindful enough to learn and use knowledge to effect change.

Web of Destruction

There is just something about tearing down others which subconsciously or consciously gives people a feeling of empowerment? Not sure if that is the right word, but it creates a destructive turbine effects which does not stop until it kills, steals or destroys.

Your web of deception can do more harm than good

Being mindful of people, friends, and family members…their secrets and sometimes carelessly shared information, and just information in general is important in maturity.

The power of life and death is in your hands or rather your tongue, so use it wisely and mindfully.

You do not need to tear another person down, regardless of what they’ve done to you or another. Know the forces with which you are dealing and either stay engaged or disengage. Leave it at that.

When you build up it creates the kind of energy in this world you oftentimes can’t see immediately, but it’s there…in the smiles on faces, new beginnings, lightness in a step, giving, hope, rewards , physical wellness, emotional and psychological outlook.

Change your outlook/perspective and change your life

Everything around you looks promising and you can cope with changes. You seek to go outdoors engage more and more with real people who are experiencing life, not synthetic dreams on social media. You are unique and purposeful, therefore you live as such, and it’s not necessary to speak negativity into anything, much less another person’s life.

Walking is easier than Limbo

Walking again

Now that the gruesome summer heat has subsided somewhat I’ve resumed my walking once again. Walking is absolutely hands down, one of my greatest passions. It’s not limbo so it’s quite easy. Don my walking clothes and I’m out the door.

Even though I’m musing while I’m walking. I do have a health app active on my phone which keeps tabs on my heart rate, peds per day, stairs climbed and distances or miles walked.

I check it daily and try to improve on the previous day. Sometimes however it’s just important for me to get out, get some good old vitamin D and walk.

I walk and I muse about everything. The soca, calypso, and reggae music in my ears beating out all the weeks and months events and helping me to synchronize my thoughts into some new thing for the next post or musing.

Social Media Fitness – The Rising

Social media fitness – The Rising

We get on maybe once or twice per day, check for likes, comments, browse news, videos, local events and sometimes just current events affecting the world.

It may be a few minutes for some but I know for me it’s an exercise in fitness. Why do I say that? I am always reading, thinking and trying to improve myself. Social Media allows me to control what I want and what I don’t want.

I can add friends, groups and businesses of my choosing. Select my pictures that are not so perfect but puts a smile on my face because of the memories. Share anecdotes with those in my circle and not be appalled by any of their content and vice versa. The filters are amazing.

I also have an agenda when it comes to social media. I’m not on to twerk, display nudity, be an embarrassment to myself or my community, and especially not to be cursing, swearing or being completely wayward for the sake of being wayward.

My community is Caribbean from Trinidad and Tobago and thus I embrace my African self wholeheartedly and everyone in the African diaspora.

It is my utmost endeavor daily to build an alliance of people and businesses to advance the existing state of Africans in the diaspora. The plan is wide but realistic.

The fitness aspect involves looking critically at myself and figuring out how to integrate my plans with those who have like endeavors. Networking is huge and thus the reason social media is so critical.

I cannot reinvent the wheel but I can certainly affect the way the wheel rotates, especially if spinning around in circles without creating positive change is all it’s doing.

I’m looking for real change across the diaspora, with real people who understand that we are significant regardless of the mantra of the past four hundred years. We had worth and value before, during and after our captured state.

Now is time for us to regain ourselves as a whole. We can’t leave anyone behind. When I say that I mean we have to create the organizations to relate to all the differences, dialects, languages, etc. in order for us to make it. We cannot be selfish but rather we must be our brothers keeper. I know there will be lost causes, but we still have to take the two steps forward approach, try and try different approaches, hand the mantle of this model to a new generation and watch it transform our reality into something amazing.

This is what scares people. Africans in the diaspora becoming socially, economically and financially conscious. This rising will be the downfall of too many economies to be comfortable but it will build the African consciousness, respect and finances. So, what do we do? We rise like our great Mother Maya Angelo would say.
