Attitude, balance, Purposely Living, significance, using silence to restore balance

Silence is restorative

I’ve found this to be a very powerful truth.

I can talk and talk and find no healing, nor resolution, but as soon as I shut my mouth, open my mind and keep my heart reasonable ( mind you, I didn’t say … pure because honestly who has a pure heart? Let’s be real).

Good against evil

We try to be as pure as we can by balancing good against evil, and that’s the best place to be in the balance where you are trying. I am scared to death of the extremes. They both create chaos in this world.

I am writing to release the tension I’ve accumulated over the last several day. Tough and heightened tensions I don’t usually experience, especially Seems like I’ve not been able to find simple solutions to any one problem I’m currently addressing. Saving grace is my positive perseverance and attitude.

So I find the positive my immersing myself into complete silence sometimes for hours. No radio, music, other voices, magazines, books, and my computer or phone.

I seek answers in silence along with peace for my own wellbeing. Without my peace I am not myself so I seek restorative silence.

Positive Living takes conscious effort

I am big on positive thinking , even in the midst of not so positive situations. I don’t just say positive things, I exemplify it in my day to day. That’s just my philosophical approach to living.

Half full

I much rather see a cup as half full than half empty. It is deliberate and extremely beneficial to me holistically.

Thank you

Thank you to my 200 Followers. I truly appreciate each and every one of you and wanted you to know I don’t take your likes and follows for granted. I do my best to follow up, respond, comment on each person. If I do not – it’s still a work in progress and I am striving on doing much better.

Every like is an experience because it comes from a person with a real life, a real personality, with interesting blogs and contributions, and not a made up profile. I value you and deem you worthy. Thank you once again.

All the best to you and I pray 2019 is much better than any other year previously. May God’s favor be ever upon you hereafter.

Happy Old Year!

Happy New Year!

Good vibes and continue writing from your heart.

Only You

Only You

N.B

When I first wrote this I wasn’t sure of the direction I wanted to go with this piece. I was just writing, releasing energy. I shared it with one other person then stored it. Monday, my colleagues mom passed, albeit she was aged, but I felt his loss. I think everyone should feel the loss of a person regardless. Death should make us more mindful, not less. We should take some time to mourn, feel the loss and also to honor the person we’ve lost in death. They may not be able to appreciate it but it makes a difference in your heart and in the people around you. Only you can start making a difference towards positive change in this world. Be mindful.

Everyone needs you

No one wants you

Only you

Great beginnings

Everyone wants you

Nobody needs you

Only you

Only you

Know what you want

Can define what you need

Only you

Only you can need and want you

Only you can Make it a great day🤗

It’s Up To You – yes you!

Spiritual/physical

We are spiritually connected with everything in the universe. It’s what makes us human. Naturally our physical presence here is felt but sometimes not experienced.

Sometimes we are more intimately interconnected or in tune, than others. Nothing taboo, just natural.

Newton’s Law

Realize everything thing you do and say has a repercussion, negative or positive. If we applied Isaac Newton’s law of physics to our lives and not just science or as an experimental existence:

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

We can employ the two forces of this principle to propel us to give out to the universe what we want back, and thereby enjoy a more mindful and peaceful world, or destructive and disturbing one.

Heart Warming Times

Heart Warming

Friday August 31st, 2018

I’m on the J train, it’s crowded. People are on phones, reading books/just imagine, talking and engaging in other activities…like talking very loudly in between stations.

I’m reading a book My Trouble With Books by Roger McTair, when I looked across the cab at another commuter, she’s deep in thought and it occurs to me she’s making notes, writing thoughts….hhhmmm. What if we are conceiving snd thinking about writing the same thing/thought?? Wouldn’t that be…interesting.

What I See

Two people, strangers, seeing the people, the issues, the tears, the stress, happiness, love, anger, sadness…across the faces of the various commuters as the board on and off. Most people are aloof and disengaged from their feelings.

It’s the New York way, but this morning I could see her thinking, writing, musing as she watched their lives and as we rode together.

My Heart Moment

My heart warms me this morning as I am on this train, in the same cab, when the train stops and an elderly couple get on. The train is packed, and there are no available seats, so the young man sitting right next to me got up and allowed the senior gentleman to sit down. This happens very rarely. Men no longer get up for women, women do not get up for pregnant women, and no one gets up anymore for senior citizens.

You see this act of kindness and respect happen less and less every day.

So today on the 56th anniversary of independence of our great Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, this was heart warming.

OUR DIFFERENCES

Differences

I overheard a conversation where a comment was made about someone saying something, actually it was a speech given on a public podium, which someone else was not in agreement.

It got me thinking about opinions and why it is so difficult for us to respect differences of opinions, differences in anything.

Philosophy

We live in such a big wide world of people, places and things with so many nuances that it is incredible to me that anyone would be in total agreement with any one thought or opinion. It’s just not a natural thing unless you are an ostrich.

The big but for me is respect…plain and simple. Learning to meet others in their opinions and agree, disagree, agree to disagree – respectfully.

We have a huge responsibility to ourselves and the next generation to practice tolerance, patience and respect towards each other. The world will be a tremendously better place for it.

My Week in Pictures 8.25.18

I take many photos. I’m not a photographer but images attract me. I also like to keep pictures for posterity. I often find myself poring over images, recollecting, and finding creative ideas. Even though life happens and do much more evolves daily, weekly, here are a few snippets of my collection. I have so much more.

The Queen of Soul -Aretha Franklin

Aretha is one true legend, a trail blazer who fought for civil rights for African Americans, even while being an entertainer. She was the definition of a hero. May she rest in eternal peace.

Kofi Annon- The Commander

I considered this gentle man such a powerful force. Another hero of mine. It was sad to see him leave us so soon. But may our late United Nation Secretary General, Ghanaian, Nobel Peace Recipient rest in eternal peace.

Twenty Five Minutes

Twenty Five Minutes on a bus

Kedella met handsome on her way to work one wet September morning. Her usual commute where She was crossing the highway somewhere by Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue where she boarded the already packed bus. She said good morning to the bus driver as a courtesy every morning.

This morning was different for some reason. He looked like his life was about to be over, so Kedella asked “are you ok Handsome? You don’t seem to be your usual chippy self this morning.”

This is how she found out her bus driver of 5 years was married, had six children and about to lose his home. All she could say was take it easy and remember the Lord does not give us more than we can bear.

He admitted he needed more than that right now because he had been holding on and holding on, nothing seemed to be changing or improving. He admitted it was tiring waking up day after day, going to work, being dog tired every day, can’t even take a vacation because the hours are necessary to deal with the financial crisis in which he found himself.

Depression may affect

The silverlining? At least this kind lady, a passenger whom he had become acquainted over the last five years. She always had a smile and a kind word. She actually stopped and took notice, recognized there was something different about him on this day.

Truthfully ? He wanted to give up, but this dear lady turned things around by her unselfish act of kindness. She didn’t offer money or sex. There was absolutely zero flirting. All she offered was her time. 25 minutes from her first stop on Utica and Eastern Parkway to her final stop at Glenwood Avenue. The ride was longer this morning due to rain and traffic. But it was just nice to know in twenty five minutes a life has been transformed.

If you only imagine someone is in need of help, be the one to throw them a lifeline. Sometimes all it takes is s few minutes of your time.

How Does Social Media fit into your world?

Social Media

I love social media!! Period!

The sheer ability to reach out to family, friends, long lost classmates, and even complete strangers who happen to share similar interests, over great distances, oceans, and even continents. I don’t know what advances have been made in space because I haven’t reviewed any NASA information. But, I will be soon since the very idea of being able to send instant message to space is revolutionary.

Negatives

While I know there are negatives- it can be time consuming, even disrupt interaction With real relationships in our lives. Some even spend so much time on social media, they have no real relationship. Others spend time filtering themselves so you really have no idea what’s real and what’s not.

Positives and Balance

But, it is important for me to highlight the positives and emphasize a balance can be met. Definitely!

Really? Yes, Really!!

I do not start my day with Social Media. That’s my biggest positive. When I open my eyes each day my praise and attention goes to my Higher Power…acknowledging and thanking God for my life, my love ones and all my blessings.

Secondly, I take care of myself, preparing myself for my day, getting chores done etc. if my chores aren’t done, I don’t reward myself with social media.

Thirdly, I take breaks from social media just to reboot, get perspective and just have me time. It may be a week or a few months. Depends how I feel. From time to time I may skip a couple days.

Lastly, social media isn’t all that important for me to disconnect from real people, real conversations and connections. I make a point to enjoy real life daily and not to have technology be all consuming . As Marshall McLuhan author of “Understanding Media” points out in the first chapter of his book :

Beyond what we think we are doing with technologies like smartphones, there is also the reality of what is happening to us when we use them. In short, what happens to us is the social message. This social “message” is also being sent to us at the same time as we use our devices for other purposes. We may not be initially aware of what is happening and how society is changing. But, over time, the social effects of the new technology seep, at least partially, into social awareness. Usually, this happens as older people point out to the younger ones how social habits have changed in their lifetime.

I’m a loner by nature who loves people. Abit of an oxymoron. But that’s my reality. I’m not a social person but I can be when called to be.

There is only one me

There’s only one me

I seem to reflect on this one thought ever so often.

The first reason being, it is a fact.

There’s only one me.

Secondly, the earlier in life we begin to understand, internalize and more importantly accept this fact, so much more fall into place for us and our authenticity allows us to have peace and many things suddenly make more sense. For one, you accept all of your imperfections and you relate and communicate as you view you view yourself, as a diamond, genuine and priceless. Secondly, how others view you does not fluster you because you are you to yourself and that’s uncompromising and refreshing.

Thirdly, there is a tremendous amount of power and freedom harnessed in acceptance of oneself as you are.

Fourthly, but not the last, those around you appreciate you more because you’ve accepted yourself, are comfortable within that framework of who you are and that makes you a more enjoyable and loveable person.

After that one, genuine, authentic you…there won’t be another. The mold can only be cut once so enjoy every moment you can so you can laugh and smile at yourself with others and at the memories each day. Not the end of your days.
